Area Agency on Aging:
Senior Community Services Employment Program
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) was established under Title V of the Older Americans Act to foster and promote useful part-time employment opportunities in community service activities for low-income persons who have poor employment prospects. Individuals enrolled in the program are assisted in returning to the work force to foster individual economic self-sufficiency and to increase the number of persons who may enjoy the benefits of unsubsidized employment in both the public and private sector.
The purpose of the Senior Community Services Employment Program is to provide and promote useful part‑time community service employment for low‑income persons who are 55 years of age or older. Transition of program enrollees to private or other unsubsidized employment is the ultimate goal of the program.

Participants benefit from employment information and paid training at established federal wage rates; help in obtaining unsubsidized employment; information on health and nutrition; and counsel in areas such as Social Security Administration benefits, Medicare benefits, and retirement.
