Department of Community & Economic Development:
Parks and Recreation
ADD staff can work with local governments and parks and recreation departments to acquire land for recreational development and to enhance existing park properties. This is done through planning meetings to ascertain the needs of the community. Once needs are identified, staff can then identify sources of funding for the resulting project. Bluegrass ADD also works with the Kentucky Department of Parks, the Kentucky Recreation and Park Society, and other relevant agencies to assist cities and counties with their park development needs.
The ADD can also work with cities and counties to identify needs and potential solutions through creation of a Parks and Recreation Master Plan. These plans can provide a layout for future development of recreation in the community. It will bring citizens together with decision makers to ensure that an adequate quality of life is created and maintained for current and future residents.
