Tourism is vital to the economic engine of the Bluegrass.  To help keep it finely tuned, the ADD works with tourism commissions across the region to assist in development of their community’s tourism-related activities and goals.  In order to better accomplish this, the ADD can work with communities to develop a detailed plan such as the Powell County Tourism Development and Marketing Plan, which was recently completed.  Staff also works with the Kentucky Department of Tourism to help cities and counties work toward achieving statewide tourism initiatives such as adventure tourism efforts, which are currently being pursued in Eastern Kentucky.
