Nicholas County 911

The Bluegrass Area Development District is currently working with the city of Carlisle and Nicholas County to enhance their 911 system.  This will allow residents to dial 911 and their address be shown to emergency service personnel on a computerized map.  This will improve response time of police, fire, and ambulance services when it really matters. 

This sudden change is being prompted by the increasing amount of cellular phone use.  Cellular phones make it much harder for Emergency personnel to find you when you need them. 

The basic process of enhancing Nicholas County is:

1. Map all existing structures
2. Determine the physical address of those structures.  If no physical address exists at this point one will be assigned.
3. Determine mailing addresses and post office pox addresses
4. Merge all phone and mailing addresses into 1 dataset
