Tourism, Historic Preservation, and Recreation:
The Tourism, Historic Preservation, and Recreation Advisory Committee (THRAC) was established to serve and promote tourism, recreation, and preservation interests throughout the region. The committee acts as a forum for professionals in these fields to interact with one another, gain information, and share ideas. THRAC is composed of tourism directors, recreation professionals, preservationists, elected officials, and other leaders. Each meeting presents a different speaker and topic that is of interest to committee members. Previous speakers include:
- Terry Johnson, World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc.
- Tiffani Jackson, State Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator
- Jack Kelly, World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc.
- Scot Walters, Kentucky Heritage Council
- Joanna Hinton, Preservation Kentucky
- Cheryl Hatcher, Kentucky Department of Tourism
- John Nicholson, Kentucky Horse Park
The committee also looks at other community and economic development areas of interest that can relate to tourism, recreation, and preservation. Information regarding planning and zoning, water and wastewater, transportation, and other related focus areas are important to the committee in pushing forward tourism interests in the region.
THRAC meets on the second Tuesday of every other month at 10 a.m. although each scheduled meeting is subject to change. Meetings are open to the public.
